Electrician Salary in Arizona (2026): What You Can Earn in the Sun Belt's Fastest-Growing Market

The pay box above shows what Arizona electrician roles with posted pay on our board offer right now — and Arizona is one of the best-covered regions we track, so these are deep samples, not guesses.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on this page traces to one of two places: the live pay box at the top of this article, computed in real time from active listings with posted pay on our job board, and the Tradesppl Hiring Index — our monthly report built from every posting published on the board, with medians, percentile ranges, and sample sizes shown. We never estimate or impute pay: if a number is here, an employer advertised it. The full rules are in the index methodology.

What the August data says

In our August 2026 Hiring Index, electricians were the busiest trade on the board (439 new postings), and US electrician postings that disclosed pay had a median of $68,640/year with a middle range (25th–75th percentile) of $56,300–$84,100 across 195 disclosing postings. Arizona itself logged 138 new trades postings — a top-5 hiring region — and 47% of Arizona postings disclosed pay, one of the highest transparency rates we measure even without a state mandate (see the transparency report).

What moves you inside that range

  • Level and scope. Arizona regulates electrical work mainly at the contractor level rather than through a statewide journeyman card, so employers set their own bar — postings often name years of experience or a contractor's qualifying criteria instead of a licence class.
  • Sector. Data centers, solar, and commercial construction around Phoenix have been the premium end of the market; residential service is the entry end.
  • The union route. Apprenticeship through a JATC pairs the wage scale with benefits that advertised numbers don't capture.

What employers are asking for

Across electrician postings in our August index, the credentials employers named most were the Red Seal (the single most-requested credential on the whole board — 88 postings across trades, 40 of them for electricians) and a journeyman licence. Of electrician postings that named an experience level, roughly 1 in 7 was open at the apprentice level — most electrician hiring wants a ticketed journeyperson. Details by trade are in the certification demand report and the apprenticeship pipeline report.
