Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Perform welding using Dual Shield, MIG, TIG, and SMAW processes to fabricate and assemble steel components in accordance with shop drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Read and interpret shop and engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions, verify dimensions, and communicate discrepancies or material needs to the shop foreman.
• Measure, layout, cut, fit, and prepare metal materials using hand and power tools such as saws, shears, grinders, and plasma cutters.
• Fabricate, fit, and weld steel components accurately while maintaining productivity, workmanship quality, and job specific requirements.
• Safely operate welding equipment and shop machinery, maintain a clean and organized work area, and follow all safety procedures and regulations.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior welders and apprentices as needed to support shop efficiency and quality.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and quality standards at all times and contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, efficiency, and craftsmanship.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in welding and fabrication preferred.
2. Proven experience as a welder and fabricator in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
3. Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding, with the ability to weld various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
4. Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings.
5. Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment and tools safely and effectively.
6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication and assembly work.
7. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
8. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
10. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production deadlines.
