Job Description

Do you take real pride in a clean, solid weld — and feel it when the work is off by even a millimeter? Are you the kind of person who knows exactly where the problem is before anyone else does? Do you hold yourself to a standard that doesn't drop just because no one's watching? Are you steady and systematic, patient enough to get the prep right so the weld doesn't lie? Do you want to work somewhere that recognizes the difference between someone who welds and someone who truly knows their craft? If this sounds like you, then we need to talk… Frazer, a leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking an Aluminum Welder to join our production team in Houston. Frazer Welders build the structural frames and box assemblies that go into every vehicle we deliver — work that ends up in ambulances and mobile healthcare units serving communities across the country. The quality of the weld is the quality of the vehicle, and we're looking for people who feel that responsibility every time they pick up a torch. What Does a Week in the Life of the Aluminum Welder Look Like? • Pulls the print, stages the kit, and sets up the jig — getting everything lined up correctly before the first tack goes down. • Tack-welds components in fixture and performs full MIG welding across flat, horizontal, and — at higher levels — vertical and overhead positions. • Moves from the Frame work center into Box, leveling and aligning walls, installing the roof, and completing structural welds on wheel wells and storage compartments. • Inspects every weld before releasing it to the next operation — catches issues at the source rather than letting them travel downstream. • Diagnoses bow and warp on complex builds and applies fit-up corrections to bring the assembly back to spec (Welder III+). • Monitors the floor for sequencing and quality issues, escalates purchasing or engineering concerns, and covers coordination tasks when the Lead is out (Welder IV). • Runs structured OJT with Welder I and II — breaking down technique, explaining the why behind each step, and raising the quality bar across the section (Welder IV). • Closes out the shift with accurate time entry and production documentation, then leaves the work area clean and 5S-ready for the next crew. Required Education and Experience: Welder I • Basic MIG welding experience or completion of a welding training program. • Ability to read a tape measure and follow written instructions. • Must pass a weld test administered by Frazer, Ltd. Welder II • 1+ years MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. • Demonstrated post-jig welding and print reading capability. • Weld test qualification at Frazer standard. Welder III • 3+ years MIG welding experience with demonstrated all-position capability. • Experience with fit-up correction and structural weld sequencing. • Weld test qualification — all positions at Frazer standard. Welder IV • 5+ years MIG welding experience; 3+ years at Frazer, Ltd. • Demonstrated mastery of all Welder III competencies plus HM designation. • Current Frazer weld certification — all positions. Preferred Education and Experience: • AWS D1.2 Aluminum Welding certification or equivalent. • Experience with aluminum-specific welding behavior — shrinkage, warping, and heat management. • Familiarity with structural fabrication prints in a manufacturing environment. Skills (to Pay the Bills) Here's a list of a few competencies that the Aluminum Welder at Frazer should have… • You're precise by nature — off by a millimeter bothers you, and you won't advance work you're not confident in. • You're patient with prep — you know that a good weld starts before the torch is ever lit. • You can read a structural print and translate it into a clean, accurate layout without someone looking over your shoulder. • You hold yourself accountable — when something's wrong, you own it and fix it rather than hoping it gets caught somewhere else. • You're reliable and steady — production teams count on you to show up, keep pace, and leave your area right every single day. • You're willing to teach what you know — at higher levels, you make the welders around you better by sharing your technique and your standard. Why Frazer? Frazer is a fast-growing company pushing the boundaries of what's possible in mobile healthcare. You'll join a team of driven, diverse people who take their work seriously and each other personally. We rely on our core values, invest in our people's growth, and give everyone room to unleash their potential. What's in it for you: • A weekly paycheck — you get paid every Friday. • Company shutdown from Christmas through New Year's, plus 10 paid holidays and PTO that starts accruing from day one. • On-site micromarket, flexible schedules, and a real work-life balance. • Free financial wellness classes plus professional development and skills training. • 401k with company match, health, dental, and disability coverage. • A culture built on honesty, accountability, and continuous improvement — not politics. Compensation $20.00–$35.00 / hour Level-based; see pay bands by level. Commensurate with education, certifications, and experience. Schedule & Location Monday–Friday 5:00 AM–1:30 PM · Onsite 7227 Rampart St., Houston, TX 77081 · No travel required. Ready to Apply? Visit www.frazerbilt.com/careers/job-openings/ and complete the following steps: • Online application + resume (cover letter optional). • Culture Index Survey — takes 5–12 minutes. Complete on a computer, tablet, or laptop (not a smartphone). Take it in your native language for the most accurate results. • WOTC Questionnaire — optional, confidential, and has no effect on your application. If you've read this far, you already know whether this is you. Apply now — we'd love to meet you.
