Job Description

Title HVAC Service Technician Location Ottawa, Ontario On-site / Remote 100% On-site (Field-based) JD & Day-to-Day As an experienced HVAC Service Technician, you will be the face of the company, executing daily service calls with a high level of independence and minimal guidance. You will step into a well-established business during an exciting growth phase as leadership transitions to the founder's son. Your primary focus is high-quality diagnostic and repair work, relieving the leadership team of hands-on field operations so they can focus on scaling the business. A typical day begins by receiving or reviewing a scheduled list of service calls starting between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. You will manage your own schedule to cover a minimum of 4 hours up to a maximum of 7 hours per day across a 5-day work week. Overtime is rarely required, as the business owner personally handles after-hours emergencies. Responsibilities • Execute Service Calls: Autonomously handle a minimum 2 to 3 residential service calls daily, managing your time efficiently to complete diagnosis, repair, and customer interaction within 1 to 1.5 hours per site. • Diagnostics & Basic Repairs: Troubleshoot and fix seasonal residential HVAC issues. Common summer tasks include repairing clogged drain plugs, clearing frozen coils, and resolving low freon levels. Winter tasks primarily focus on comprehensive furnace-related troubleshooting and repairs. • Adhere to Order of Operations: Systematically diagnose system issues by following established, structured performance checklists for AC and furnace units. • Maintain Company Reputation: Act as a critical customer-facing brand ambassador, prioritizing meticulous attention to detail, trust, and exceptional communication to maintain a 30-year referral-driven reputation. Required Experience • Licensing: Valid provincial Gas Technician licensing is mandatory. • Field Experience: 2 to 6 years of dedicated hands-on field experience specifically working as a Service Technician (not an installer). They are not looking to train up • Technical Autonomy: Proven capability to operate immediately without extensive corporate training or onboarding ramp-up time ("ready to go"). • Customer Service: Strong history of customer-facing roles with excellent communication skills. • Access to a Vehicle (mileage and service calls will be fully reimbursed at provincial regulatory costs per kilometer) Nice to Have Experiences • An easygoing, highly energetic personality with a genuine passion for diagnosing mechanical systems and solving client problems. Compensation: $30/hr to $35/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
