Job Description
Journeyman Plumber – Hydronics Focus
Major Heating and Air Conditioning | Denver Metro, Colorado
Pay: $35–$50/hour, based on experience | Full-Time
Join the Major Team
Major Heating and Air Conditioning has been family-owned and serving Colorado since 1970. We are growing our plumbing and hydronics team and looking for an experienced Colorado Journeyman Plumber who takes pride in quality workmanship.
This is not just a standard plumbing position. We are looking for someone with experience—or a strong interest—in boilers, radiant heating, snowmelt, hydronic systems, and custom mechanical rooms.
If you’d rather build a clean, professional mechanical room than run drain lines all day, this could be the right opportunity for you.
What You’ll Do
• Install, service, and troubleshoot boilers and hydronic heating systems
• Install radiant floor heating and snowmelt systems
• Build and pipe clean, professional mechanical rooms
• Install circulators, pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, mixing valves, and other hydronic components
• Perform near-boiler piping and system piping
• Run domestic water, gas, and drain piping as required
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot existing systems
• Read and understand piping schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications
• Assist with system start-up, testing, and proper system operation
• Work with builders, general contractors, homeowners, and other Major team members
• Maintain Major’s standards for craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer service
What We’re Looking For
• Current Colorado Journeyman Plumber License – Required
• Strong understanding of hydronic heating and piping practices
• Experience with high-efficiency and/or cast-iron boilers
• Knowledge of radiant heating and snowmelt systems
• Experience with mechanical room piping and layout
• Understanding of circulators, zone valves, expansion tanks, system controls, and system balancing
• Gas piping and basic combustion knowledge
• Ability to troubleshoot systems independently
• General residential plumbing knowledge
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Own basic hand tools
• Ability to lift equipment and work in mechanical rooms and confined spaces
Additional Experience Is a Plus
• Colorado Master Plumber License
• High-end residential or custom home experience
• Geothermal systems
• Chillers
• Building automation and HVAC controls
• DDC or smart-home controls
• Trade school or completed apprenticeship
