Job Overview Ruetz Contracting Ltd. is looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter / Working Foreman to join our team. We are looking for someone who is a strong carpenter first, but who also has the experience and leadership ability to run a crew and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a job site. Our work includes custom homes, additions, renovations, commercial projects and agricultural construction throughout Midwestern Ontario. This is a hands-on position. The successful candidate will work alongside the crew while organizing the job, directing employees and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Responsibilities • Lead and work alongside a carpentry/construction crew • Layout and frame floors, walls and roofs • Complete additions, renovations and new construction • Read and understand construction drawings and specifications • Plan daily work and assign tasks to crew members • Coordinate materials, equipment and manpower • Identify upcoming material requirements • Maintain productivity and keep projects moving • Coordinate with project management, subcontractors and other trades • Ensure work is completed accurately and to company standards • Maintain an organized and safe job site • Identify problems and communicate them before they affect the project • Assist with other carpentry and general construction work as required Experience & Qualifications Required: • Minimum 5 years of carpentry/construction experience • Strong residential wood-framing experience • Ability to independently layout and frame floors, walls and roofs • Ability to read and work from construction drawings • Previous experience leading or supervising a construction crew • Strong understanding of residential construction practices • Ability to plan work and keep a crew productive • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation • Ability to safely operate common construction tools and equipment • Dependable and able to work with limited supervision Preferred / Assets: • 7+ years of carpentry/construction experience • Previous Lead Carpenter, Foreman or Site Supervisor experience • Experience with custom homes and renovations • Red Seal Carpenter certification is an asset but is not required • Working at Heights training • WHMIS • First Aid/CPR • Experience operating telehandlers, skid steers and other construction equipment What We're Looking For The right candidate should be able to arrive on a job with a set of drawings, understand what needs to be done, organize the crew and get the work moving. We are looking for someone who: • Takes pride in their workmanship • Can lead without needing constant supervision • Is comfortable making day-to-day job-site decisions • Communicates well with employees and management • Can teach and develop less-experienced carpenters • Thinks ahead and anticipates materials and upcoming work • Is organized and dependable • Understands the importance of productivity while maintaining quality Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour Benefits: • Company events • Disability insurance • Extended health care • On-site parking Work Location: In person
