Join Our Growing Team as a Journeyman Electrician!
The Journeyman Electrician works under the mentorship of a Foreman or Superintendent while having the opportunity to oversee and guide a small team of Helpers, Apprentices, or fellow Journeyman Electricians. In this role, you will engage in the installation, alteration, and repair of electrical systems, conductors, and related equipment. At Amteck, you will also have the opportunity to expand your skills in areas such as low voltage, controls, process work, and fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits using a variety of tools and equipment.
• Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, branch circuits, and feeder conductors.
• Utilize your knowledge of circuiting to perform work effectively.
• Interpret project specifications, blueprints, and schematics with confidence.
• Layout work areas according to electrical drawings and project documents.
• Accurately size wire, conduits, and junction boxes.
• Troubleshoot basic lighting and general power circuits.
• Lead and mentor junior team members on the job site.
Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of hands-on electrical construction experience in commercial or industrial settings.
• Possess all necessary tools as per company policy and be proficient in their use.
• Exhibit the principles of the Amteck Way in your daily activities and decisions.
• Willingness to adapt to project schedules, including weekends and overtime if necessary.
• A desire and ability to learn job-related material through observation and hands-on experience.
• Embrace teamwork by following instructions, collaborating effectively, and prioritizing safety.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, and the capacity to read fundamental construction documents.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing field training, whether through on-the-job training or other educational methods.
Essential Functions: This position requires the ability to complete essential job functions with or without accommodations, including:
• Understanding and following verbal and written instructions.
• Compliance with Amteck's dress code and grooming policies.
• Sufficient visual abilities to detect details in drawings and equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, including reaching overhead as required for installations.
• Capability to lift and manipulate equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely use ladders and work at heights of over 30 feet.
• Dexterity in using hands for operations and frequent movements between heights and orientations.
• Comfort working in various weather conditions and tight spaces.
