Electrician / Estimator – Utilities
Location: Ontario
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organized Electrician / Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, experience in the utilities industry, and the ability to support both field operations and office administration.
This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities, including electrical work, estimating, material procurement, documentation, and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work as required.
• Prepare estimates and assist with pricing for electrical and utility-related projects.
• Review project drawings, plans, specifications, and scope of work.
• Determine required materials, equipment, labour, and resources for projects.
• Request and order materials from suppliers and coordinate material deliveries.
• Monitor material requirements and ensure materials are available when needed.
• Communicate with suppliers, contractors, customers, and internal teams.
• Prepare and maintain work orders, purchase orders, timesheets, reports, and other project documentation.
• Track project progress, materials, and labour.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is completed on time.
• Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable Ontario regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
• Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) – Electrician, Construction and Maintenance (309A), or other legally recognized authorization to perform the required electrical work in Ontario.
• DZ Licence
• Minimum 2 years of experience working for a utilities company or within the utilities industry.
• Previous experience with estimating, material take-offs, or project coordination is strongly preferred.
• Experience ordering electrical materials and dealing with suppliers.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors and in different field conditions when required.
• Ability to work Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts.
