Gas code in New Brunswick

New Brunswick has adopted CSA B149.1:20 (2020) (CSA B149.1 (Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code)). The adopting authority is Government of New Brunswick — Department of Public Safety / Technical Inspection Services (Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act). Verified June 28, 2026.

New Brunswick incorporates the CSA B149 series by reference through the Propane, Natural and Medical Gas Regulation (NB Reg 84-176) and the Standards Regulation (NB Reg 84-177) under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act, administered by the Department of Public Safety — Technical Inspection Services. Schedule B of the Standards Regulation lists CSA B149.1:20 (natural gas and propane installation code) and CSA B149.2:20. The newer 2025 edition has not been adopted in NB as of June 2026. A precise in-force date for the 2020 edition could not be confirmed against an official notice.
