Special Metal Fabricating Ltd is looking for an individual who has experience in custom metal fabrication. The ability to work with Sheet/HSS stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel is a must. This person will need the ability to learn, work with other team members, and have great organizational skills. We are a custom metal fabrication shop so experience in fabrication is a must. Tig welding with stainless steel and aluminum is a requirement.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Assure safety policies/procedures are adhered to
• Work with small hand tools, clamps, and grinders to fit-up and weld misc steel and sheet metal products
• Perform light maintenance on welding equipment such as replacing contact tips and nozzles, replacing liners and entire weld gun assemblies, replacing drive rolls on wire feeders, and safely exchanging shielding gas bottles
• Perform advanced complex welds - stainless steel and aluminum
• Operate plasma cutters and cut materials using power tools or by hand
• Operate an automatic band saw
• Maintain the cleanliness of your work area
• Other duties as required
• Ability to read and understand drawings (shop and blueprints)
• Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and vice versa)
• Work both in the shop and onsite (field)
Qualifications:
• Journeyman’s ticket – Welder for Alberta or Red Seal
• CWB Certification is an asset
• Minimum 5 years of experience, working as Journeyman in related fabrication field
• Forklift operation experience
• Elevated work platform and fall arrest are considered an asset
• Stainless Steel and Aluminum are a must
• Tig, Mig, and Spool Gun is a must
• Laser welding would be an asset
• Clean Driving Abstract
• The ability to use the brake press is considered an asset
• Ability to use ironworker, rolling machine, and drill press is an asset as well

As a Journeymen Welder, you will be integral to our fabrication operations, utilizing your expertise in welding and metal fabrication to produce high-quality components. Reporting to the Shop Manager. Your premium skills in MIG and TIG welding with aluminum and stainless steel will enhance our production capabilities. With strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety, you will contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on excellence and efficiency.
