Steel WarehousemanPosition Overview The Steel Warehouseman is responsible for accurately and safely filling customer orders in a timely manner while supporting overall customer satisfaction. This role follows established safety and quality procedures and consistently delivers high standards of service, meeting or exceeding customer expectations on a daily basis. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Fill customer orders according to pick ticket instructions, verifying size, grade, quantity, and heat numbers • Apply general knowledge of structural steel, pipe, and plate steel • Read, understand, and follow customer-specific instructions listed on pick tickets • Pull material for internal transfers • Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks • Cut materials for stock and customer orders using saws, shears, ironworkers, and burning tables • Double-check orders to ensure correct materials are selected • Complete required paperwork, customer labels, and equipment inspection reports • Operate all equipment safely and responsibly • Report safety concerns to supervision and maintain a clean, safe work environment General Duties • Operate forklifts and cranes to move materials • Use basic measuring devices, including tape measures and micrometers • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Minimum Requirements & Skills • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to pass background and drug/alcohol screening • Ability to stand, lift, climb, and perform various physical tasks • Ability to handle, lift, and carry steel parts up to 50 lbs. • Ability to work well with others and contribute as a team player • Physical agility, mobility, and dexterity • Ability to accurately perform basic math functions • Ability to read pick tickets, tape measures, and other measuring devices • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
