Journeyman Welder

Job Title: Journeyman WelderJob Description This role involves welding a variety of components as new projects arise, with a focus on aluminum and steel welding. The position requires high-quality bench welding using wirefeed and TIG techniques, reading blueprints, and fabricating objects in runs of 5-20 items. The role may also involve impacting the steel side of the facility, working on projects ranging from pipe shoes to car camper attachments, and welding smaller components using regular mild steel and aluminum. Responsibilities • Perform high-quality bench welding using wirefeed and TIG techniques. • Read and interpret blueprints for fabrication projects. • Fabricate objects in runs ranging from 5 to 20 pieces. • Weld a variety of components including pipe shoes, steel stairs, I-beams, and more. • Weld smaller components in quantities ranging from 10 to 100 pieces using mild steel and aluminum. • Maintain attention to detail and quality in all welding tasks. • Participate in morning meetings to align with team members and management. Essential Skills • Proficiency in fabrication, TIG, MIG, and Flux core welding. • Experience with wire feed and reading blueprints. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • CWB certification in Flat and Horizontal welding. • Experience with aluminum and stainless steel welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with sit-down counterbalance equipment. • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. • Flexibility to work in multiple areas of the shop. • Capability to learn and adapt to new machines and techniques. Experience strong management support in a clean and organized shop environment. Work Environment The work environment is a small, clean, and organized shop with about 8 staff members. It offers a casual dress code with PPE requirements and tools provided. The shop plays music and provides ample space for work. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime as needed. The company focuses on municipality industries, government projects, and sub-components for larger manufacturers, with a commitment to quality assurance and customer trust. The shop is equipped for end-to-end manufacturing, including CAD drawings, bending, cutting, welding, and powder coating. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Airdrie, AB. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
