Position Summary
The Electrician Apprentice assists licensed electricians with the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential electrical systems. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and experience while developing the technical skills required to become a licensed electrician.
The Electrician Apprentice will support electrical service and installation work while learning proper safety procedures, electrical codes, troubleshooting techniques, and customer service expectations. Apprentices are expected to demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Support
Assist licensed electricians with diagnosing and repairing residential electrical systems
Support installation of electrical components including wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, breakers, and panels
Help with electrical upgrades such as panel replacements, circuit installations, and code corrections
Assist with installation of electrical equipment such as generators, surge protectors, and EV chargers
Learn proper troubleshooting techniques under the supervision of a licensed electrician
Job Site Preparation
Gather tools, materials, and equipment needed for each job
Maintain a clean and organized job site
Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment
Protect customer property and maintain cleanliness in work areas
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety procedures and electrical safety standards
Properly use personal protective equipment
Learn and follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations
Assist in ensuring installations meet code requirements
Learning & Development
Actively participate in training and on-the-job learning
Develop knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and installation techniques
Work toward meeting requirements for electrical licensing
Accept feedback and apply it to improve technical skills and efficiency
Documentation & Communication
Assist with job documentation and service tickets as directed
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Interest in pursuing a career in the electrical trade
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Basic mechanical aptitude
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to pass background check and drug screening if required
Preferred Qualifications
Previous construction or trade experience
Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in an electrical apprenticeship program
Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, ladders, and confined spaces
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods
Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions
Work Schedule
Full-time position
Schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends depending on workload
