This is a safety-sensitive position, the successful candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol testing to comply with SaskPower's Fit for Duty Policy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Interpret and implement plans, drawings and specifications related to installation, modification, repair and operation of equipment
Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions and take corrective action, as required
Participate in the design and field modification of apparatus and equipment
Inspect, service and operate specialized equipment and tools
Requisition and maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies
Troubleshoot, maintain, test and repair industrial, electrical and control systems and other related devices
Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
Arrange for appropriat-e permits and develop and perform switching procedures, as authorized
Read, compile and maintain records and drawings associated with the position
Adhere to applicable safety and environmental standards, regulations and corporate commitments
Participate in continuous educational and professional development, as required
Prepare cost estimates, as required
Supervise apprentices and other staff, as required
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Other related duties, as assigned
JOB SUMMARY:
The employee in this classification is responsible to fabricate, assemble, operate, troubleshoot, install, commission, maintain, test and repair equipment, machinery, controls, facilities and infrastructure associated with the specific trade.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Interprovincial Journeyperson Welding Certificate, or equivalent AND;
Hold and maintain valid Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan Welder's Licence, or equivalent, designated as:
o Step 1 (97% of base) = Qualification a) below
a) P1-P15F,P34,P4x, F3F4
- Pipe/tube O.D. less than 2 7/8" (73 mm)
- Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 11 mm (.436") with F3, F4 combination
- 6G position
- Progression, Uphill
o Step 2 (98.5% of base) = Qualification a) and b).
b) P1-P15F,P34,P4x, F6F5
- Pipe/tube O.D. less than 2 7/8" (73 mm)
- Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 3.2 mm (.125") for GTAW
- Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 7.9 mm (.311") for SMAW
- Progression, Uphill
- 6G Position
o Step 3 (100% of base) = Qualification of a), b) and c)
c) P1-P15F,P34,P4x,F4
- Performed on Plate
- Qualified with a minimum deposited weld metal thickness of 9.525mm (0.375") for SMAW
- Progression, Downhill
- 3G Position
o Steps 4 through 11 = one step for each additional qualification required by SaskPower at the work location approved by the hiring manager.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Valid Class 5 driver's licence
NOTES:
If there are no fully qualified applicants, appointments may be made based on the following qualifications:
Interprovincial Journeyperson Welding Certificate, or equivalent
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
Applicants appointed to permanent positions are required to obtain the base qualifications; (a), (b), and (c), within their probationary period
This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
