JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER

POSITION OVERVIEW The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for daily work at company construction sites to include underground plumbing, rough-in plumbing, and installation of finish. The position assembles, installs, and repairs pipes and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems based on detailed drawings/plans and plumbing code. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Study building plans and drawings to determine required work and sequence of installation in coordination with the general contractor and other subcontractors. • Installs pipe and fittings for underground, above grade drainage, water and gas. Installs tubs, showers, hot water heaters, and other fixtures as required by plans/drawings. • Serves as an assistant to the Job Site Foreman by monitoring and coaching apprentices and subcontract employees ensuring effective production, quality workmanship and safety. Focuses on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions. • Assist Jobsite Foreman with requests for tools/equipment/material that are required for the project. • Reads blueprints and interprets specifications. Plans work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. EMPLOYEE TYPE: Full-Time LOCATION: Columbus, OH EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED • Minimum 2 years commercial plumbing/mechanical experience • 1 year of prior project management experience JOB SKILLS • Ability to read and interpret blueprints. • Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation • Proficient use of all hand and power tools • Detail oriented • Able to do basic take-offs. • Ability to perform underground, rough-in and finish plumbing tasks. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, senior management, and customers.
