Job Summary:
The Welder Fabricator is responsible for certified structural welding, custom fabrication, mechanical installation, and equipment support across the facility. This position supports the Maintenance and Kaizen teams by designing, fabricating, and installing engineered solutions that improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Additionally, this role performs mechanical work including hydraulic and water pump replacement, electric motor disconnection and reconnection.
Main Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
Perform certified structural welding in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, and company safety standards
Design, fabricate, and install custom components including structural supports, guards, fixtures, platforms, and equipment modifications
Independently develop fabrication solutions when drawings or prints are not available
Generate materials requisition for fabrication projects, including materials, hardware, and consumables
Execute 100% turnkey fabrication projects, including design, fabrication, installation, and final verification
Support Maintenance removing, replacing, and installing hydraulic, water, and process pumps across manufacturing equipment including performing mechanical alignment and verification following pump installation
Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and mechanical safety procedures
Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives through fabrication and mechanical modifications
Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve equipment reliability and safety
Keep organized records, documents, drawings, information of assigned projects/tasks
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication and work area.
Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
Education:
· High school diploma or GED
Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years of industrial welding and fabrication experience
· Demonstrated experience performing structural welding in an industrial or manufacturing environment
· Proven experience with mechanical work including pump replacement and equipment installation
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Current Structural Welding Certification
Computer Skills:
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
· Ability to use email, electronic documentation, and basic digital applications for work orders and project documentation
Mathematical Abilities:
· Intermediate-advanced math skills.
· Ability to perform measurements, calculations, and layout work required for fabrication
· Ability to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and specifications
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:
· Strong analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
· Ability to effectively prepare technical documentation such as sketches/drawings, materials, procedures, etc. of assigned projects.
· Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions
· Strong problem-solving and mechanical reasoning skills
· Ability to independently design solutions for fabrication and mechanical challenges
Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)
· Ability to read, write and speak English
· Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures
· Bilingual English Spanish preferred
