Job Description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Technician to perform installation, service, and maintenance operations while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring all work meets company, safety, and code standards. This is a working leadership role requiring strong technical ability, organization, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
• Lead and coordinate daily work for technicians and apprentices
• Train and mentor junior team members in proper installation and service procedures
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards
• Act as the primary point of contact on job sites
Technical Duties
• Diagnose and repair residential and/or commercial HVAC systems
• Perform full system installations including ductwork, equipment, and controls
• Commission and test systems to ensure proper operation
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, EPA regulations, and safety policies
• Verify correct refrigerant charging, airflow, and electrical connections
• Complete required job documentation, reports, and customer notes
Customer Interaction
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and recommendations
• Represent the company professionally on all job sites
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, and airflow principles
Preferred Qualifications
• NATE certification or equivalent industry credential
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification
• Aerial Lift Certification
• Fork Lift Certification
• Experience leading or training other technicians
• Experience with both installation and service work
Skills & Competencies
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Strong leadership and communication abilities
• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions on-site
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Comfortable working in attics, rooftops, crawlspaces, and outdoor environments
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
Pay: $32.00 - $45.00 per hour
