JOB DUTIES * Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications * Inspects worksite to avoid structural weaknesses * Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers * Cuts, threads, and bends pipe * Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings * Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings * Joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazing, fused, or cemented joints * Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems * Tests piping systems for leaks * Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers * Welds pipe supports to structural steel members * May observe production machines to detect malfunctions or verify repairs (if certified) * May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing material during installation * Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment * Respiratory protection may be required * Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS * One (1) to Four (4) years of experience in Pipefitting (depending on mechanic level) * Ability to meet client job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.) * NCCER certification preferred, but not required * Pre-employment craft test, drug screen, physical, background check, and completion of safety training is a condition of employment GENERAL REQUIREMENTS * Practice all safety rules * Follow verbal and written instructions * Safely use hand and power tools * Report to and assist immediate supervisor * Perform quality work as determined by project specifications * Account for all tools and materials at the end of your shift * Work well as part of a team PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
