Job Description - Mechanic 1 Class - Pipefitter (2600154)
Responsibilities
• Installs and maintains process pipe and piping systems within the refinery.
• Selects, installs, and removes various pipe and piping systems, fittings, gaskets, tubing, and valves.
• Repairs and replaces flanges and performs maintenance on leaking pipes. Follows safety and work permits to tie into existing lines, vessels, or tanks.
• Uses hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasks.
• Uses precision measuring and alignment tools to ensure proper alignment.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
• Follows guidelines and procedures to ensure that equipment is working in a safe and reliable manner.
• This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of 5 years related pipefitter experience is required.
Able and willing to work on-site and in‑person, required.
All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). It is Valero’s policy that employees must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery.
