Electrical Assistant

SCOPE OF WORK As an Electrical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting electricians with various installations, modifications, and additions related to electrical systems. Your contributions will help ensure the smooth operation of projects in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Embody the Gaylor Values while fulfilling job responsibilities. • Understand and comply with safety standards, including O.S.H.A. regulations. • Follow lock out/tag out procedures diligently. • Maintain personal hand tools according to company policy. • Obtain certification for operating platform and boom lifts, if necessary. • Comfortable working at heights of up to 90 feet using ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and other safe work areas. • Familiarity with mobile elevated work platforms. • Eager to learn basic conduit bending techniques for efficient installations. • Proficient in using hand tools, such as cable cutters and hammer drills. • Ability to work in tight spaces, including switchgear rooms and crawl spaces. • Comprehend and follow verbal instructions and safety warnings. • Demonstrate safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials. • Read and interpret job site maps, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately. • Possess basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure. • Take pride in craftsmanship and work quality. RESPONSIBILITIES • Arrive at work sites punctually as directed. • Maintain and store tools, materials, and equipment properly. • Keep materials and tools organized for a clean and efficient work area. • Capable of digging trenches using hand tools or equipment, as necessary. • Assist in mounting and installing hardware such as conduit and wiring. • Identify colors of wires and conductors accurately. • Perform assigned tasks safely under the supervision of an electrician. WORKING CONDITIONS • Work in various outdoor elements, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, depending on the job site and season. • Utilize construction site sanitary facilities (e.g., port-o-lets). • Require personal hand tools at all times, with a tool belt that may weigh up to 30 lbs. • Be available for scheduled hours and potential overtime on short notice. • Capable of working in noisy environments. • Maintain composure in emotionally charged situations. • Function effectively as part of a team. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and harnesses when required. • Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, push, pull, and reach for extended periods. • Lift loads of up to 51 lbs. safely. • Repetitive movement of arms, hands, and fingers. • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding for extended periods. • Good vision and hearing abilities (normal or corrected). • Access all construction areas, including those accessed via ladders or stairs. • Stay in motion throughout the workday. • Reach and stretch for equipment and materials while maintaining balance. • Utilize both hands simultaneously for tasks and equipment operation. • Distinguish color-coded wiring. • Capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits. EDUCATION • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
