Welder/Fitter Apprentice

Job Summary We are seeking an Apprentice Welder/Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of welding techniques and standards, with the ability to read and interpret schematics. This role involves building and fitting components, primarily focusing on ductwork and sheet metal fabrication. The successful candidate will work with various power tools and equipment, including plasma cutting machines and cranes, to ensure high-quality production standards. Responsibilities • Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications and requirements. • Fabricate and assemble ductwork and sheet metal components according to established codes and standards. • Perform welding tasks using various techniques, ensuring structural integrity and quality of work. • Utilize plasma cutting equipment for precise cuts in metal materials. • Operate power tools safely and effectively to complete fabrication tasks. • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards. • Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and efficiency on projects. • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Requirements • Experience in welding and fitting, specifically with sheet metal. • Strong understanding of basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks. • Familiarity with industry codes and standards relevant to welding practices. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately. • Experience operating plasma cutting machines and other power tools safely. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. • Physical capability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods during shifts.
