Plumber (NOC 72300)
Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
Install, test, and insulate 6-way valves for 4 pipe cooling systems
Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
Estimate costs and materials
Site Services pipe installation including watermains and sewer/storm drainage systems up to 15”
Site coordination of trenching with bedding for trench drain under piping
Concrete experience for water main support to prevent thrust
Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)
Expected Employment Start Date : As soon as possible
4% vacation pay
Skills requirements – Education and Work experience
Work Experience:
1 year of experience as Plumber.
Experience in installing, modifying and repairing plumbing systems for single and multi-storey buildings, including water supply, drainage, sewage, gas appliances, and sub-floor plumbing required.
Experience in digging drains, installing pipes, assembling plumbing structures and installing fixtures, fittings and appliances required.
Demonstrable experience in safe operation of hand and power tools, handling materials, and following safety procedures on job sites required.
Ability to interpret plumbing drawings, follow instructions and ensure compliance with British Columbia Plumbing Code (BCPC) and safety standards in our province required.
Experience in cutting, bending, threading, and joining pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, cement, soldering, brazing, or welding techniques required.
Experience in testing pipes and plumbing systems for leaks using air or water pressure gauges and insulating valves and pipes as required.
Experience with site services pipe installation, including watermains and sewer/storm drainage systems up to 15” diameter, including trenching, bedding, and concrete supports to prevent thrust required.
Ability to estimate material requirements and project costs accurately.
Knowledge of 6-way valves for 4-pipe cooling systems and related installation/testing procedures required.
Must be competent in modern technology to improve work quality and efficiency.
