Rural Electric is seeking mid- and advanced- level electricians to work at various projects throughout Arizona and out-of-state in California. Work-day hours vary depending on location. Some projects may need night shift workers.

Job Purpose
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems - including wiring, conduit, fixtures, and control panels in industrial settings. The JM works independently or leading small teams and ensures all installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations. A licensed professional is preferred, although not required in the state of Arizona, but may be required for projects in other states.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
• Install electrical wiring, fixtures, and panels in new constructions.
• Familiar with the NEC and capable of using it properly to size and select conduit, wire, boxes, and insulation, as well as able to use its provisions for proper grounding and bonding.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams, as well as understand/interpret field survey markings.
• Perform electrical testing to ensure systems are functioning correctly.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in construction projects.
• Collaborate with other construction professionals to integrate electrical systems.
• Install and maintain circuit breakers, outlets, and panels.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems.
• Monitor and secure tools and equipment on job sites.
• Maintain assigned work vehicle in clean, orderly, and fully stocked.
• Responsible for supervision and work assignments of at least one apprentice.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Skills & Knowledge:
• Experience in industrial electrical work, and some exposure to commercial work.
• Knowledge of NEC electrical codes, regulations, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills for teamwork and client interaction.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects from various sources concurrently.
Education, Qualifications, & Experience (include but not limited to):
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed an apprenticeship program in electrical work.
• Level 2 (Mid-Level Journeyman): 2–5 years of experience; works independently and handles a wider range of troubleshooting.
• Level 3 (Advanced/Senior Journeyman): 5+ years of experience; handles complex installations and may start leading small crews or mentoring apprentices.
• OSHA 10-hour, forklift, and First Aid/CPR, preferred.
• Certifications in specialized electrical training or safety.
Additional Requirements (include but not limited to):
• Class B CDL may be required, if needed.
Other Training Requirements (include but not limited to):
• Complete a minimum of 6 hours of technical training per year (i.e., craft training / NEC code refresher / administrative training / safety training)
• HR compliance training
• Continuing education courses
Working Conditions:
The job is performed outdoors at various client/company job sites.
Environmental Exposure: Frequent work in extreme Arizona heat, or cold, rain, and/or humidity. Out-of-state work may also include environmental exposure to heat, cold, rain and/or humidity. Work is often in un-enclosed buildings or outdoors. Exposure to dust, fumes, and dirt is common.
Heights & Tight Spaces: Work often requires functioning at heights over 20 feet or in cramped spaces.
Schedule & Travel: Standard 40-hour weeks with frequent overtime, including early mornings (e.g., 6 am starts), weekends, and occasionally long-distance commuting to job sites.
Safety Hazards: Risk of electrical shock, burns, and falls; strictly enforced use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Up to 25% domestic travel can be expected.
