Position Overview:
The Journeyman Electrician specializing in Solar Installation plays a crucial role in the success of commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This position not only requires technical expertise but also emphasizes safety and teamwork. You’ll lead and support your field crew while ensuring adherence to codes, standards, and our safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, terminate, test, and commission electrical systems associated with solar PV installations, including inverters, combiner panels, switchgear, and grounding systems.
• Maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures as per project specifications.
• Ensure all activities comply with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and relevant local and state regulations.
• Conduct system testing, inspections, and troubleshooting to confirm performance metrics and identify issues.
• Diagnose and solve problems within systems, components, and apparatus to ensure optimal operation.
• Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, one-lines, and construction drawings accurately.
• Guide and assist apprentices and electrical workers in proper installation techniques and safety practices.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient job site while adhering to company safety policies.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• At least 5 years of electrical experience.
• A minimum of 3 years in solar electrical work (commercial or utility-scale preferred).
• An active Journeyman Electrician license as required by jurisdiction.
• Proven experience with solar PV system installation and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and power distribution.
• Ability to meet the company's Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) criteria.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently or as a team member in a dynamic construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
These qualifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already held:
• NFPA 70E certification.
• A foundational understanding of basic electrical theory.
• Successful completion of the Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) qualification process.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program or relevant field experience is essential.
