Job Description

Department: Operations Department Reports To: Site Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining electrical systems of industrial establishments by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. * Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. * Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. * Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. * Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape. * Cleans work area, tools, and equipment. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary. Qualifications  Minimum 5 years of experience including but not limited to the following: Troubleshooting general electrical systems, control systems, PA systems, emergency lighting UPS, gas and smoke detection, gate control system, overhead door controls, building automation system, phone communication, UPS battery systems, dock control system, power monitoring system. Possession of current State of New York Journeyman or master electrical license. Understanding of 120 through 3-phase 480-volt power distribution familiarity with HVAC, pumps, chilled water systems etc. Familiar with current GM ESWP standards and be current with National Electrical code updates.  Other Qualifications: Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments. Must be able to operate a forklift, light truck and other related motorized equipment. Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime. Must have a valid driver's license. 2nd Shift: M-F, 3:00PM-11:30PM – 4 of 6 Saturdays
