Job Summary
TekniPlex is hiring an experienced, dependable Industrial Electrician 1st shift
to support high-demand facilities including manufacturing plants, processing
facilities, and automated industrial environments. This role is ideal for
electricians who are confident working with 480V systems, motor controls, PLCs,
switchgear, and automated equipment, and who take pride in precision, safety,
and problem-solving.
We are currently hiring a 1st Shift Industrial Electrician for our Ridgefield,
NJ facility. The pay for this union role is paying $40-$45 per hour.
Compensation is based on experience.
Working within established guidelines, an Industrial Maintenance Electrician
combines the traditional role of a maintenance mechanic with advanced expertise
in electrical systems and troubleshooting. They are responsible for ensuring the
efficient operation of electrical and mechanical components within a facility or
industrial setting. This specialized role is critical in environments where
complex machinery, automation, and control systems are prevalent, such as our
manufacturing plants and large commercial facility.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Diagnosing and repairing electrical malfunctions: Utilizing expertise in
electrical schematics, circuits, and systems to pinpoint problems and perform
repairs on equipment, wiring, and components. Resolve electrical and control
issues to minimize production downtime. Work with switchgear, motor control
centers (MCCs), VFDs, transformers, and power distribution. Install and
support cable tray systems, conduit, and industrial wiring. Assist with
PLC-controlled systems, sensors, and automated equipment (programming
experience a plus)
* Troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment and facility assets:
Applying both mechanical and electrical knowledge to identify and resolve
issues with production lines, industrial machinery, and building
infrastructure. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical
systems up to and including 480V
* Preventative and corrective maintenance: Developing and executing
preventative maintenance plans for electrical systems and machinery, as well
as responding to emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
* Installation and support: Installing new electrical systems, equipment, and
components, ensuring proper electrical connections and system integration.
* Safety and compliance: Adhering to relevant electrical codes, safety
regulations (like Lockout/Tagout procedures and OSHA standards), and industry
best practices to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure all work complies
with NEC codes, OSHA requirements, and plant safety standards
* Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities,
repairs, inspections, and spare parts inventory, often using Computerized
Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
* Understanding and interpreting technical information: The ability to read and
work with electrical schematics, blueprints, diagrams, ladder logic, wiring
diagrams and equipment manuals is essential for effective troubleshooting and
repair.
* Collaborate with maintenance teams, engineers, and supervisors to meet
production and project goals
* Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate daily documentation
Qualifications
* 10+ years’ industry work experience required
* “Journeymen Level” Industrial Electrician experience
* Ability to obtain or currently have a BLACK SEAL BOILER certificate
* Strong hands-on knowledge of:
* 480V systems
* Motor controls & MCCs
* PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
* Sensors, automated controls, and industrial instrumentation
* Cable tray installation and industrial conduit
* Comfortable working in industrial environments, including heights, confined
spaces, weather and active production areas
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
* OSHA 10/30 certification preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine
reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders. Ability to read,
analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical
drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups
situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to effective present
information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients,
customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio,
and percent. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
in mathematical or diagram form.
