Role Summary
FluxHive is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician based in the Raleigh, NC area to join our team on a part-time basis with flexible hours. This role focuses on supporting the testing and evaluation of new HVAC products, requiring deep knowledge of both residential and commercial systems. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and comfortable working with emerging products and technologies in a hands-on testing environment.
Responsibilities
• Support the hands-on testing and evaluation of new HVAC products in both residential and commercial configurations
• Install and set up HVAC equipment for product trials, including wiring, refrigerant handling, and ductwork connections
• Identify, document, and report performance issues, defects, or anomalies observed during testing
• Provide technical feedback on product performance, usability, and installation from a field technician's perspective
• Maintain and service test equipment and systems to ensure accurate and consistent results
• Collaborate with FluxHive's product development and engineering teams to communicate real-world insights clearly and effectively
• Maintain detailed logs of testing activities, findings, and service records
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience
• Must reside in or near the Raleigh, NC area
• Proven knowledge of both residential and commercial HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair
• Strong verbal and written communication skills — ability to clearly convey technical findings to both field and engineering audiences
• Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
• North Carolina HVAC contractor or mechanic license (or ability to obtain)
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work with unfamiliar or prototype equipment
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical schematics, and product specifications
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred qualifications
• NATE certification or equivalent industry credential
• Prior experience in a product testing, R&D, or quality assurance environment
• Familiarity with smart HVAC controls, building automation systems, or heat pump technologies
• Experience working with engineering or product development teams
