Our member is seeking a 3rd/4th Year 306A Plumbing Apprentice to join their skilled mechanical services team in Kitchener, ON. Job Title: 3rd/4th Year 306A Plumbing Apprentice Salary: $27-$33/hr Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package Job Type: Full-Time Job Overview: As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will assist licensed plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role provides hands-on experience and training under the supervision of certified plumbers, with a goal to progress towards becoming a journeyman plumber through formal apprenticeship programs. Key Responsibilities: • Assist in Installation and Repairs: • Help install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems (pipes, fittings, water heaters, fixtures, etc.). • Assist with interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems. • Material Handling: • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites. • Maintain clean and organized workspaces and storage areas. • Fixture Installation: • Assist in installing sinks, faucets, toilets, bathtubs, showers, and other plumbing fixtures. • Learn and apply proper techniques for sealing, fastening, and connecting various pipes and fittings. • Leak Detection and Troubleshooting: • Assist in identifying and repairing leaks, blockages, and malfunctions in plumbing systems. • Perform pressure tests, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting tasks. • Compliance and Safety: • Follow safety protocols and building codes as outlined by Ontario and municipal regulations. • Assist with ensuring all installations meet Ontario Plumbing Code standards. • On-the-Job Learning: • Participate in formal and informal training programs. • Gain knowledge of plumbing tools, techniques, materials, and systems. • Customer Service: • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and co-workers. • Assist with providing accurate time estimates for plumbing work and projects. Qualifications: • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. • Experience: Previous experience in construction or manual labor is an asset but not required. • Skills: • Good manual dexterity and physical stamina. • Basic knowledge of tools and machinery. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus. • Certifications: Enrollment in a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program or willingness to enroll. • Driver's License: Valid G-class driver's license in Ontario. • Other: Must be able to lift heavy materials, work in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods.
