Vacancies: 03 RFT -(2) positions at Corbett Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (Whitby, Ontario) -(1) position at Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (Pickering, Ontario) The duties include: • The operation and maintenance of the Region's wastewater treatment system including plants and pumping stations • Standby duty, overtime work and the ability to respond quickly to them are required as well as the ability to work on a rotating shift schedule • Design, install, maintain and repair computer, electronic, radio systems and components of process control, telemetry and data acquisition systems while ensuring ESA compliance • Repair, maintain and install electrical equipment • Write reports and maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and associated costs • Research the availability, applicability and performance of components; prepare job cost estimates and purchase required parts and equipment • Inspect and test components installed by contractors • Review, update and maintain electrical drawings and blueprints • Perform other related duties as assigned Applicants must have: • 14 years of formal education • A valid Certificate of Qualification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) with the Skilled Trades Ontario • A valid Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Certificate • Experience in the design and improvement of new or existing electrical and electronic systems; operate and maintain electric testing, repair and calibration equipment • Extensive experience in an industrial environment including sub stations (4160 volts), standby power, UPS Systems, troubleshooting electric motor control, instrumentation maintenance and control • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) troubleshooting • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound judgments regarding work methods and tools • Ability to understand oral and written instructions as well as read and prepare wiring diagrams and blueprints • Effective written and verbal communication skills • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Adobe software • Experience working with computerized maintenance programs • A valid Ontario Driver's License Class 'G' (or higher) A valid Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) Certificate of Qualification is considered an asset as well as a diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technician, or Electronic Engineering Technician, or Electromechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent. Candidates who possess an Operator-in-Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Certificate or are willing to register and advance within the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Water Operation Certification Program may also apply, however, preference will be given to applicants with a Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Certificate. The successful applicant will be required to maintain their licence/membership with Skilled Trades Ontario as a condition of employment.
